July 18: Family Movie Night

At Carbondale Public Library. 4:00 PM.

Every Thursday the library will host 2 FREE movies: a Kid's Movie from 4 PM to 6 PM and a movie geared for adults from 6 PM to 8 PM. Popcorn will be served but feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. Children may bring a blanket or towel to sit on. Thursday July 18th: Kid's Movie: Ralph Breaks the Internet Adult Movie: Aquaman Hope to see you there!


July 18: Christmas Vacation Night

Sit Back and enjoy Christmas in July at PNC field with this Chevy Chase Comedy Classic.

Movie will be screened Thursday, July 8th at 7:05 PM. Tickets are $11-$15


July 19: Dunk the Dentist to Benefit Bella Rebar

Friday, July 19th 12pm - 4pm at Century Dental in Archbald, PA.

Make a donation and take your change to Dunk the Dentist for a Good Cause. Everyone who dunks Dr. Jason Hanyon will be entered to win a Smile Make-Over Package. All proceeds go to Bella #BELLASTRONG. Come see the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS Pace Car & Rock 107 from 12pm-2pm and enter to win tickets to the Gander RV 400.


July 20: D&H Bike and Yoga Event

Bikers will meet at Forest City trail head for yoga let by Tiffany Debish of Studio Be. Yoga. Everyone is welcome to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings!

Then we will hop on our bikes and head north on the D&H Rail-Trail. This section of trail is newly improved and beautiful. We will pick a few serene spots where Tiffany will lead us with another session of yoga. And we will end our ride enjoying the slight downgrade we biked up.

July 27: Cindy's Crusade

Saturday July 27 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. William Walker Hose Company. Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer 8 years ago, her battle is not over, she most recently was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Cindy is a kind and caring wife and mother of three beautiful boys that she loves dearly. She is a friend to many and loved by her close friends and family. All donations will help aide in the cost of Cindy's medical expenses during this time, as she is unable to work during chemotherapy treatment.

July 27: Beacons Reading at the Chamber Gallery

The reading will run from 1 pm - 4 pm at the Chamber Gallery 27 N Main St Carbondale. This will include a dessert reception afterward. The reading is free. Donations will gladly be accepted and will be used towards the expense of a future full scale production. Hope to see you there!

Aug 3rd @ 11am. Historical Bust Tour of the D&H Rail-Trail for seniors and disabled members of our community.

Aug. 3: Cornhole Tournament

At Sisko's Cafe.

20 dollars a team. Top two teams will win a prize. It will be double elimination bracket style tournament. Must be 21. There will be sign up sheets at the bar with Kenneth Dimick or Andy Siskos jr.

Aug. 4: Rock the Night

Annual Veterans' fundraiser at Genetti Manor. Tickets for Escort Flag Retrieval: riders $20; passengers $15.

4th Annual Rock the Night Fundraiser & Awards Ceremony. This year we will be honoring the memory of Cpl Lewis Gardner III with a Motorcycle Ride starting at Gander Outdoors to our Family Event at Genetti Manor. We will have an awards ceremony to honor Veterans who have displayed resiliency, recovery & service -AND- local police officers who have helped keep our Veterans safe during crisis situations. Music and entertainment will be provided by our national spokesperson, Country Artist Dani-elle and DJ Lisa Fiorini. Also, vendors, basket raffles, kids games, food concessions, cash bar, tattoos by Electric City Tattoo and more!

Aug. 13: Foot and Ankel Pain Workshop

2 Sessions offered in the same day. Attend either 12:30 or 5:30p on Tues. Aug. 13th! Event will be held at the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce, 27 Main Street Carbondale PA.

Dr. Kuti will "walk" you through (pun intended!) on the basics or your foot/ankle anatomy structure, typical causes of pain and how to reduce the pain naturally!


Aug. 14: National Night Out 2019

At Circle Drive-In. Hosted by the Dickson City Police Department.

National Night Out 2019 will be held on August 14, 2019 with a start time of 5:30pm. A kid friendly movie will be presented on the big screen at the end of the event. More info to follow! Aug 17: Community Yard Sale

In conjunction with Carbondale’s annual “Pioneer Nights Block Party,” the ANTHRACITE CENTER will host a HUGE YARD SALE style event in the parking lot!

Aug. 31: Overdose Awareness Balloon Release

Hosted by Just Believe Recovery PA. This is a free event and Just Believe Recovery Center will be providing all materials. Saturday August 31st at 6:30 PM, 100 Lincoln Ave. Carbondale.

Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on August 31st each year to raise awareness of drug overdose and reduce the stigma of addiction. It is also to share the hope that overdose is preventable and that recovery works! To honor those we have lost, there will be a balloon release followed by a candlelight vigil.


Aug. 31 - Sept. 1: Lackwanna County Railfest

Hosted by the Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau at the Steamtown National Historic Site.

The 13th edition of Railfest is a celebration of railroading and industrial machinery, plus music and food to fill our your family enjoyment. Taking place on Labor Day Weekend, we also combine our event with La Festa Italiana on the Lackawanna County courthouse square a few blocks away. Model trains, toy trains, live steamers, track speeders, photographs, artwork and the real trains are all part of what we have to offer. During the opening ceremony of Railfest, the Lackawanna Historical Society announces the recipient of the Alan Sweeney Award. Railroad trips in the Steamtown yard, short distance excursions and photo opportunities are all part of celebrating the end of Summer and the importance of railroading.


Sept. 8: D&H Distance Run 1/2 Marathon and 5k

Hosted by Rail-Trail Council

The 13.1 mile race will be an ‘out and back’ run on the D & H Rail-Trail from Forest City to Union Dale. This is a USATF certified course •The trail is approximately 15 feet wide and recently resurfaced with fine crushed stone for a superb running surface. •The course is basically flat with a slight upgrade going northward and a slight downgrade for the return and finish. Water stations will be approximately every 2 miles •Post race snacks will be available •The race is a great tune-up for those training for the Steamtown Marathon and a great race for those attempting longer distance runs. •Race participants will be limited to 400. Registration packets can be picked up race day starting at 7:30 AM
